![]() ![]() Uncompressed files are not suitable for live shows as they require to much from the server in terms of physical space as well as bandwidth and CPU demands. Highly compressed files is essential for live shows as they need to play instantaneously. Resolume can decompress the video frames on the GPU instead of the CPU for this codec. Resolume allows for you import any clips of your choice however it must be a DXV File. Within previous blogs we have looked at codec’s, and Resolume is no different with its own clips. This is applied on top of both layer 1 & 2. Layer 3 – I think of this layer as small additional detail.Layer 2 – Is then applied on top of layer 1, you’ll tend to find the pictures to not have as much occurring in comparison to layer 1.You’ll find the clips in this section cover the entire screen and are more animated. Layer 1 – This is essentially your base layer and will be the first thing you’re going to apply. The Layers ( 1,2 & 3- on the left of the main screen ) are what you can apply to your canvas. The best way I personally think to understand it is through the idea of painting a picture. The nice thing about Resolume is there is nothing technical that needs to be done when wanting to play your clip, it’s simply click and play and it will appear on your output monitor, however layers is a very important part of Resolume. Here were going to provide a brief rundown on some essential sections. When launching Resolume Arena your directly greeted with this interface which doesn’t look entirely user-friendly at first thoughts, however this is the complete opposite once you’ve understood the basics and spent some time playing around with the software. The ones provided will be discussed in more detailed throughout this blog post The reason for using the Arena is the additional capabilities that it offers. Resolume comes in two options Arena which is what will be covered in this blog and Avenue which is effectively the little brother to Arena. It essentially allows for you play video and audio files by projection or LED wall, however it comes with a whole host of features that can completely alter that simple experience into mesmerising projection. Resolume Arena is media server, that is designed for the live visual performances. Todays blog post will be focused entirely on the Resolume Arena ! The recent lectures have been around gaining a basic knowledge and understanding on Resolume and its capabilities, throughout these lecture I have become increasingly interested in the software. ![]()
